The flagship energy efficiency improvement scheme, the Green Deal has passed the 1,000 mark with 1,173 households now committed to taking part at the end of October 2013.
Out of the 1,173 households 219 have already had the Green Deal work completed. By the end of October the number of completed Green Deal Assessments had also risen to 101,851, over 80% of these households said they intent to install at leas one energy saving measure.
Further progress has also been made on the Energy Company Obligation with £288 million worth of contracts now being let through the ECO brokerage and 303,795 measures installed up until the end of October.
Speaking on this milestone, Easy Green Deal Marketing Manager, Thomas Farquhar said, "Surpassing the 1,000 mark represents a significant milestone for the Green Deal. With finance only really being distributed over the last few months the scheme has not yet had a full year of operation and yet more than 1,100 homes have already moved forward using Green Deal finance. Alongside this, more than 9,500 Green Deal Cash Back vouchers have been issued which shows significant numbers of people are following the Green Deal process but using alternative financing mechanisms. Whichever way you look at it, the Green Deal framework along with the Energy Company Obligation are pushing forward improving homes and creating jobs in a vital sector for bringing down fuel bills and improving energy security".
